The Tornado.
Duck Salt was born out of tragedy but became a symbol of resilience and community. After 95% of Greensburg was devastated by one of the worst F5 tornadoes in Kansas history, the town came together to rebuild. During this time, Matt shared his Duck Salt with friends and neighbors, and it quickly became a local favorite. What started as a small gesture of comfort grew into something bigger—Matt began bottling Duck Salt and sharing it with others across Kansas, spreading flavor and hope along the way.

Matt and Molly, what a pair! From the moment they met, they were inseparable. Molly, his beloved dog, was by his side through it all—from traveling the country with Stars of Hope to inspiring two children’s books about her and the tornado that devastated their town. Matt dedicated his life to his community and country, leaving a legacy of kindness and service. Sadly, our dear friend Matt passed away in February 2022. He is deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created with Molly by his side.

This is our best friend, Maggie and she owns the couch at home as well! You see, Matt and I became friends over the years, bonding first through our dogs and later over a shared passion for doing good for others. In honor of them, we're proudly giving 4% back to local causes and communities in hopes to bring a little joy to someones lives. We strive to be nice to everyone we meet along the way, just like Matt, Molly & Maggie did and do. We're simply trying to build a legacy of kindness.
